The Case For Microchipping Your Pet

Statistically, one in three pets will become separated from their owners at least once in their lifetime, meaning that approximately 10 millions American dogs and cats are lost or stolen every year. Of these pets, less than a quarter are ever reunited with their families.

Obviously, these numbers are frightening and can be distressing to pet owners (and their pets, if they could comprehend them). Microchipping your pet is a simple, yet effective, defense against permanent loss or separation.

When my parentsâ€™ dog Kya died very suddenly a few years agoâ€š their regular vet was not at work that day. But thankfullyâ€š Dr. Tullio was and treated my parents and their dog as if he was their doctor for the past 15 yearsâ€”doing everything he could to try and revive Kya and by being so compassionate to my parents in the waiting room after having to deliver the sad news.
